Purpose Statement
Parents and whānau are inducted into the service’s operation, their child’s education, and are made aware of the input they are able to have within our centre during the induction visits.
We ensure that our centre educates and supports processes for continual improvement to maintain the quality of the education and care provided to children. It is underpinned by the belief that ongoing self -review and internal evaluation is part of good management and administration.
- Self-review is about looking back on the implementation of policies, procedures and practices to ensure licensing requirements are met. Self-review involves asking questions such as:
- Are we following our policies and procedures?
- Are we doing what we are required to?
- Internal evaluation is about identifying what is and is not working, and for whom. This is carried out with the aim of improving practice and what is happening for children and then to determine what changes are required.
- The use of storypark is explained and parents are invited and encouraged to contribute to our centre’s operational documents. The teaching team is inducted into our review processes at the time of starting their employment with us.
- Strategic plans are developed for the following three years with input from the centre community including owners, all Kaiako and whānau. This will guide the direction of internal evaluation and connect to the annual plan
- Internal evaluation is included within the annual plan and aligned with the centre strategic plan
- The annual plan is developed in November for the following year and aligned with the centres strategic plan
- Storypark is used to invite whānau contribution in all reviews, evaluations planning and assessment and to contribute to their child’s IDP or comment on learning stories, and share aspirations
- We will endeavour to provide possibilities and cultural considerations for all whanau within our service taking into consideration: parents first language, communal decision-making practices
- Policies are reviewed in line with the annual plan. Each month the policies to be reviewed are shared with all Kaiako and whānau via Storypark. The latest updates from the Criteria will be used to support and guide the review of policies and procedures.
Where a centre has a parent handbook the process for review is outlined and included in the information that parents receive upon enrolment - The notice board holds relevant information such as ERO results, staff details including those staff who are “Persons Responsible” & summary use of MOE funding etc
- Newsletters are sent out monthly or bi-monthly to help keep whānau informed and up to date with centre life
- Outcomes and changes resulting from internal evaluation are shared with centre whānau and kaiako via Storypark.
- The NELP is connected to the annual plan, strategic plan and internal evaluation
- The centre will document its commitment to recorded outcomes from the review and evaluation process. Outcomes show how the service has regard for the Statement of National Education and Learning Priorities (NELP) in its operation.
