Even though the rain kept falling throughout the day, our childcare centre was filled with laughter, learning, and meaningful moments. At our preschool, we believe every day rain or shine is an opportunity for tamariki to explore, grow, and have fun together.
Morning Mat Time: Learning About Healthy Choices
Our daycare began with an engaging group session where tamariki explored the concept of healthy and unhealthy foods. This activity is a key part of our preschool curriculum, helping children understand how nutrition supports strong and healthy teeth.
The children enthusiastically sorted different food items onto the correct tooth healthy or unhealthy daycare encourages hands-on discovery and critical thinking.
Indoor Play at our preschool: Fun Despite the Rain
Rainy days don’t slow us down at our childcare centre! Indoors was buzzing with excitement, especially for our toddlers who had a wonderful time playing in a ball-filled tent.
This playful environment supports social interaction, sharing, and joyful exploration where core values we nurture in our early learning centre.
Story Time Magic our Preschool
We were delighted to have a special story session with Teacher Gizalyn, who read the much-loved tale The Grandma Who Swallowed a Fly.
Tamariki were captivated and excited to “meet” the grandma, listening with curiosity and enthusiasm. Story time is an important part of our preschool program, fostering imagination, language development, and a love for reading.
Afternoon Mat Time: Name Recognition & Confidence
In the afternoon, our preschoolers focused on recognising their names an essential early literacy skill. The teacher wrote names on the board, and children eagerly identified and circled their own.
We also sang, “I have a very special friend and their name is…”, spelling out each child’s name through song. This fun and supportive activity boosted confidence and a sense of belonging within our daycare environment.
Transition Time: Building Numeracy Skills
During transition time, preschoolers revised numbers and took part in a counting activity. They counted objects and matched them to the correct numbers, strengthening their early maths skills.
At our early learning centre, we integrate learning into everyday moments to make it engaging and meaningful.
