Children in the centre continued their learning adventures as they explored outdoor environment with great enthusiasm and energy. We saw our busy bees working in the sandpit mud kitchen, while others were experimenting with mixing colour in the water station. Some big boys enjoyed riding for fun as a team and cheered each other on. A group of our friends was lining up and waiting for their turns to do the tossing game, which aimed to nurture patience and enhance focus with eye-hand coordination.
Through mat time, big kids were developing their confidence by understanding the needs of individuals and respect for others’ choices. Our toddlers were learning about shapes by songs and signs. During preschooler transition time, tamariki learnt to navigate letter mazes as a part of early literacy basic knowledge.
Ka pai tō mahi tamariki mā In the late afternoon, our kaiako had wonderful sessions with a batch of parents who were so committed and eager to share their aspirations and home experiences of their children.
Our creative explorers also engaged in imaginative dramatic play, where they worked together to create their own little stories and roles. Some children became shopkeepers, chefs, and caring doctors, using communication and teamwork skills while building friendships along the way. Others enjoyed quiet moments with puzzles, blocks, and books, strengthening their problem-solving abilities, concentration, and early language development in a calm and supportive environment.
As the day continued, tamariki embraced opportunities to connect with nature and care for their surroundings. Children helped water the garden, observed insects, and talked about the different plants growing in our outdoor area. These meaningful experiences encouraged curiosity, responsibility, and appreciation for the natural world while supporting social interactions and cooperative learning with their peers.
