A Colourful Fun Friday At Fun N Play Childcare Centre
At Fun N Play Childcare Centre, our tamariki enjoyed a joyful and vibrant celebration of Holi. The day was filled with laughter, creativity, colourful sensory play, and meaningful cultural learning. Through engaging activities, teamwork, and hands-on exploration, the children experienced the bright and happy spirit of Holi. It was a wonderful opportunity for tamariki to build friendships, express their creativity, and learn about different cultures in a warm, inclusive, and supportive early learning environment.
A Warm Welcome to Our New Tamariki
We warmly welcome Kamaia and her whānau joyful learning moments, friendships, and wonderful experiences together at our daycare centre. We warmly welcome Kamaia and her whānau and look forward to many happy learning moments together at our childcare centre.
Preparing a Sweet Treat Together
The morning began with a special cooking activity at our childcare centre. The children helped prepare colourful coconut laddos for afternoon tea. Tamariki enjoyed mixing ingredients and rolling the mixture into little balls. This activity encouraged teamwork, creativity, and confidence as the children proudly helped prepare the kai they would later enjoy.
Learning About Holi at our Childcare Centre
Tamariki listened with interest as they talked about why people celebrate Holi and how colours bring everyone together. The children also discussed how to play safely and respectfully during the celebrations, making sure everyone felt included, happy, and cared for while enjoying the colourful activities.
Outdoor Holi Fun and Sensory Play at Fun n Play
The outdoor play area at our early learning centre soon turned into a colourful playground of exploration and excitement. Tamariki enjoyed a variety of Holi-inspired activities designed to stimulate creativity and sensory learning:
Colourful ice sensory play, where children explored bright colours and cold textures
Oobleck play (a fun cornstarch mixture that feels both solid and liquid)
Colourful car sliding, where children dipped toy cars into paint and slid them down a slider to create beautiful patterns.
Colour Recognition and Indoor Activities
Inside the centre, children also enjoyed a colour matching game, helping them explore and recognise different colours while strengthening their observation and thinking skills.
Enjoying Our Homemade Laddos
By afternoon tea time, the tamariki were excited to enjoy the delicious coconut laddos they had prepared earlier in the day. The children proudly shared the sweet treat they had helped make, celebrating their teamwork and effort. Making and tasting the laddos together was a special moment that brought smiles, laughter, and a sense of achievement for everyone. It was a wonderful way to end our colourful Holi celebration at Fun N Play Childcare Centre.
