Children enjoyed a fun-filled range of activities at Fun N Play Childcare Centre. Throughout the day, they had many opportunities to learn, create and play. They also enjoyed active experiences and built positive connections with their friends and educators.
Exploring Shapes and Sizes
During morning mat time, children explored different shapes and sizes. First, they compared the shapes and talked about how they were different. They also learned about big and small. In addition, children practised identifying circles, squares and triangles. They shared their ideas and listened to their friends.
Number Learning Through Play
Next, afternoon mat time focused on numbers and counting. Children matched different quantities with the correct numbers. This helped them practise counting, number recognition and one-to-one matching. They also worked together and took turns. As a result, they built confidence and cooperation skills.
Meanwhile, our toddlers enjoyed a fun parachute activity. They sang the “Shake, Shake” song while moving the parachute up and down. They followed the rhythm and practised listening and coordination. Most importantly, they enjoyed moving and playing together.
Daffodils Week Creative Activities
As part of Daffodils Week, tamariki enjoyed a creative flower activity. They coloured and painted beautiful daffodils. Through this activity, the children explored different colours and expressed their creativity. They also talked about spring and the changes they could see around them as part of the celebrations and events at Fun N Play.
Afterwards, the children enjoyed indoor play. They played in the kitchen area and built with magnetic blocks and LEGO. They created homes, towers and other structures. Through imaginative play, they used their creativity and problem-solving skills. They also gained experience in sharing, communication and cooperation with their friends.
Outdoor Play and Movement
Later, children headed outdoors for more active play. They explored the sandpit, enjoyed bike riding and played with playdough. They also had fun in the basketball court. Through these activities, children practised running, balancing, riding and throwing. As a result, they strengthened their gross motor skills and physical confidence.
At the same time, our transition children focused on the number 1. They worked on tracing the number 1 on a worksheet. Then, they played “Spy the Number 1” and searched around the room for the number. This fun game supported number recognition and early writing skills. Most importantly, children enjoyed learning through hands-on play.
Learning Through Everyday Play
Overall, the day provided many opportunities for children to learn through play. They explored shapes and numbers, enjoyed creative art and took part in imaginative play. They also enjoyed outdoor movement and active experiences. In addition, children developed confidence, communication, coordination and social skills while having fun.
